There are several TEDxPhoenix updates that we’ll be rolling out this week, but before we send those out, we wanted to let you know about a great event in the Valley that will be taking place this week.
The 2009 Phoenix Twestival will be taking place this Friday, September 11th at the gorgeous aloft Tempe Hotel from 6pm to 9pm.
The event is part of a global event in which 150+ cities around the world will raise money to support a good cause. The last Twestival event raised over $250,000 for charity: water, and all proceeds for this year’s event will go to support St. Mary’s Food Bank.
According to Phoenix Twestival organizer Chris Lee,
The Twestival enables people from Twitter to connect offline, network and catch up socially while supporting a good cause. It’s completely organized by volunteers and 100% of the proceeds goes directly to charity. This local event will support St. Mary’s Food Bank — St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, the world’s first food bank, is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that alleviates hunger by efficiently gathering and distributing food to sites that serve the hungry.
Our aim is to bring all the various #PHX tweeps together in concert with this global tweetup to raise money for a good cause and to build community.
For more information about the event or to purchase tickets for the 2009 Phoenix Twestival, feel free to visit the Phoenix Twestival site. You can also follow the Phoenix Twestival on Twitter.
Sincerely,
The TEDxPhoenix Crew
