I don’t work, I just play all day long…

- John Nese

In mid-January of this year, Chris Anderson announced a new feature on the TED Blog called the Best of the Web. It’s an effort by TED to link to the best talks out on the interwebs that were NOT recorded at a TED event — you can see these talks by visiting the TEDTalks List Page and selecting “Best of the Web” from the “Show by event:” drop-down list.

We liked the idea and have decided to try our own spin on the Best of the Web by combining it with TEDTalk Tuesdays. This week we bring you a great video from Chow.com’s Obsessives series that features John Nese, the owner of Galco’s Soda Pop Stop in Los Angeles.

What strikes us most about John is how passionate he is about soda, doing what you love, the environment, and supporting locally-owned independent businesses. I actually got the opportunity to drop by his shop while visiting California, and he’s every bit as awesome in real life as he is in this video.

We hope you enjoy this week’s TEDTalk Tuesday and would love to hear what you think about the video. Feel free to leave your comments below, and if you have an idea for a TEDTalk we should feature, please send it to us via the TEDxPhoenix contact page.

Sincerely,
Tomas Carrillo

  1. What an inspiration! What a resource! It’s not obsession, it’s passion. Passion makes all the difference.
